Nepal Copper Bangles – Willow Mann
BRACELET STORY…
The Bracelet story is an interesting one. While in Kathmandu prior to my trekking in 2006, I visited a jewellers shop that Mike Quayle was familiar with. While there I noticed many copper bangles on sale and I had the thought of having the “Three Leg” symbol engraved in three places on one of the bangles. I gave the jeweller a Manks 10p and left it with him while I went trekking. When I arrived back he had cut out three symbols and soldered them on the bracelet as I had asked for instead of engraving on the symbol. The problem with the first one was that the legs overhung the copper bracelet on either side and caught and snagged on everything and ruined all my shirt cuffs. I then thought about the “watch face” idea with the symbol in the centre of what resembles a solid copper watch and this has been the format ever since. I have mentioned Mike Quayle, he is my courier and he regularly visits Nepal and organises the ordering and transporting of the bangles. It is mid November 2013 and he has just arrived back with another consignment. I must also thank and praise Mr and Mrs Malcolm Wells and the staff at Celtic Gold in Peel, they have for sometime now, took a number of the bracelets, both silver and copper, and sold them through their outlet and passed on the profit without taking any remuneration! The shop will now be able to complete orders and will have some for Christmas, as have I.
